Covid Diaries
Coronavirus has brought about a new set of challenges for us, just like it has for everyone across the globe. We stopped our classes for a few months. We were hesitant to go online because to us, the human touch that comes with sharing a physical space is special. However, after a conversation with Ravi Gulati of Manzil we decided to give it a try.
And how did it go?
Our first online admission saw 120 applicants! Over the past few months, we have had four admissions with a total of 330 children having applied. Now we have children not only from our area but from all over India. The meaning of community for us has changed, we are now learning and sharing with children and adults from different parts of the country. Space is no longer a constraint. It means we can touch the lives of many more. We also have volunteers from abroad. We learn when new doors open! This has been a deeply exciting journey for our family. Experiencing this growth has brought us overwhelming joy. Our children now gain more exposure as they talk to people with lives that are vastly different from theirs. They can therefore learn of and think about different opportunities out there.
We face the challenge of children and young adults who do not have access to devices or the internet to join online classes. Our creative classes are also impacted. We are continuing with them to the best of our ability.
As an additional measure to help families who are impacted, we have been distributing rations in our community area. We act as a bridge between the authorities and those who do not have ration cards.
We are keeping the spirit alive and soldiering on! Life is beautiful and we are thankful for the growth and togetherness that we are witnessing during this time.
