About Us
At our Udaan we have found together a place where our souls are nourished. It is our little garden where we plant our desires and curiosities about the world to nurture them. We are a learning organisation that provides classes for young children and youth coming from low income backgrounds. We believe that children learn best when they are given a secure space where they are encouraged to be themselves and find their own path.
Udaan is a place where children and young adults get to sit together and pursue their dreams. Our students decide what they want to learn and we cater to their interests. We believe this instills confidence in children. We focus on application and value-based learning as this creates the skills students need for their futures. Our dream is to build stronger and safer communities for our children.
We do not have any fixed rules about who can be a teacher or student at Udaan. Some of our teachers, in fact, are students in other classes. Anyone can be a teacher if it is a subject that they have a flair for. As we work together, we tend to realise and appreciate the beauty of being a learner for life, no matter our age or circumstance.
We seek to fulfill the basic need that we all have as human beings, to feel wanted. This is how a family operates and that is the essence of what we truly are. A small and shy family. We give each child and team member the attention they deserve. We want our students and teachers to grow and keep childlike hearts alive. To always ask questions, keep learning, to hold dear the little things and to look at the world with love and respect.
Our space is inspired by Manzil, an organisation that has moved and motivated many of us to work among communities in the neighbourhood.
